England vs France Match Result

In a highly pulsating England vs France match of equally skilled opponents, France was the final winner of the fourth quarter-final. France won the match 2-1 and advanced to the Semi-Finals. France will now meet Morocco who has become the first nation from Africa to reach FIFA World Cup Semifinals.

France now got a chance to defend their title, like Brazil the first team to defend their title in 1962.

Even though England has completed more passes, and more crosses, and has the most attempts on target and off-target, but is unfortunate to convert those attempts. On the other hand, France utilized their chances and converted their attempts into winning goals.

Aurelien TCHOUAMENI has produced a stunning goal for France, in the 17th minute of the game. He smashed a right-footed shot into the bottom-left corner from 25 yards, to score his first FIFA World Cup goal. At the end of the first half, England has three attempts on the target, as against two attempts from France. France was leading 1-0 in the first half.
In the 54th minute of the match, England’s captain Harry KANE equaled the score by converting the penalty. This is KANE’s 53rd international goal, and he now equaled Wayne Rooney’s national scoring record. He was the top scorer in FIFA World Cup 2018. KANE scored 53 goals, in 80 matches, as against Wayne Rooney in 120 matches.
He was the Hero for England for converting the first penalty. But unfortunately, he failed to convert England’s second penalty opportunity, which become very costly for their team, as he skied his spot kick over the crossbar in the 84th minute.
Olivier GIROUD deflected a header in the second half, putting his team up 2-1 in the match. It was a match of first-class football, neither team deserves to lose, but ultimately France has the final laugh.

Player of the Match: Olivier Giroud of France
